This matcha chawan was created by Kyoto ceramic artist Takenaka Kosho (竹中洗祥). The bowl is finished in a gentle pink glaze, decorated with hand-painted sakura blossoms and scattered white petals. A sculpted bird on the rim adds a whimsical and distinctive touch, bringing nature’s playfulness into the tea space.
The flared rim and rounded form make the bowl comfortable to hold, making it especially suitable for spring tea gatherings or as a decorative display piece. Its combination of seasonal imagery and sculptural detail reflects Kosho’s signature style of blending function with artistry.
