日和 — the harmony of a good day

Matcha Biyori was born in a moment of stillness.

During the pandemic, I was a student living in Germany — far from home, far from noise, and far from everything I thought I needed.

Life slowed down. The days were quiet. And in that space, something unexpected opened up.

I began noticing the small rituals that made the day feel whole — the sound of water boiling, the warmth of a bowl in my hands, the calm that came from simply sitting still.

That’s when I discovered matcha. Not just as a drink, but as a way to feel grounded.

A Journey into Culture and Craft

At first, matcha was simply an alternative to coffee. I didn’t know how to whisk it properly. I had no tools.

But even then, something about it felt different — softer, deeper, more intentional.

That small ritual led me into a much bigger world: the world of Japanese tea ceremony.

Through it, I was introduced to values that felt instantly familiar, and deeply needed:

Presence. Care. Awareness. Respect for time.

Even before I had ever set foot in Japan, I felt a connection to the spirit of its culture — the quiet devotion behind every handmade tool, the sensitivity to the seasons, the beauty of imperfection.

Matcha Biyori is my way of sharing that connection.

What We Stand For

At Matcha Biyori, we believe in the richness of slowing down.

We believe in sharing not just high-quality matcha and tea tools, but the values and stories behind them.

Our selection is guided by reverence — for the farmers, the craftspeople, and the traditions they carry forward.

We work with small producers in Japan and choose everything with care, not just for quality, but for meaning.
